It was a good week at the Punchestown festival for Stuart Crawford and the team at Newlands Farm as 20/1 shot Now Let Go gained a very valuable win. The win is the second time the Crawford Bros Racing quartet of Stuart, Steven, Ross and Ben have been in the Winners Enclosure at the Punchestown Festival as this victory followed up Oh Jackie’s 2008 La Touché Cup success.
The Flemensfirth mare made all from halfway out to win by two and a quarter lengths to claim the first prize fund of €24,500 in the Irish Thoroughbred Breeders Association Fillies Premier Bumper. Of Now Let Go Stuart said “She ran a good race against the geldings in Navan and found an easy opportunity in Carlisle. It was verging on good ground in Carlisle and it was probably similar today which swayed me towards running. I’d imagine that’s as quick as she wants it but she seemed to handle it well”.
Realta Horse Racing’s very own Danielle’s Journey ran a very credible sixth in the race with a twenty four runner field comprising some of the best fillies and mares picking up prize money of €1,000 in the process. After the race Stuart commented on Danielle’s Journey “There was nothing between the two mares at home and Steven went with the other mare as he felt the Presenting might handle the ground better. It was the flip of a coin and he’s a bit disappointed. That’s her finished for the year now and she’ll go hurdling next season.
