Season Two – Three Horses In Training

Realta Horse Racing Club go into our second season with the firepower of three horses in training. With our successful first season over us we look forward to the season ahead of us to further build our reputation as the club to be a part of. Having tasted success after only our third run, finished in the winning pegs four times out of five and picked up prize money on every run Danielle’s Journey is a great example of the type of horses we plan to have in training.

racehorse Danielle's JourneyIn December 2013 Realta Horse Racing Club announced our first horse Danielle’s Journey who is a Presenting filly out of a black type mare trained by Henrietta Knight who herself had five wins under her belt including a National Hunt flat race, hurdles and chase victories. In the 2015/16 season Danielle’s Journey should progress and go on to be an exciting hurdler having finished third on her hurdles bow at Sligo. Danielle’s Journey optimum distance will be around 2m4f to 2m6f and we look forward to getting her out when the season starts to come into full swing.

Realta acquired the beautiful grey five-year-old from the same breeder of our first filly Danielle’s Journey. This well related and athletic daughter of Golan to be named A Touch Of Sparkle has several relations who run in the famous Gigginstown House colours was selected to be the second horse to wear the Realta Horse Racing Club silks and should hopefully go chasing after her first season. Sparkler is from the family of Noel Meade’s winning gelding Sword Of Destiny who won four races from six starts and also Wounded Warrior who won his only point-to-point and three races under rules for the same trainer having only finished once outside the money.

buy racehorse shares in IrelandThe third horse in line to wear the Realta silks is our first horse Danielle’s Journey’s half-sister by top sire Westerner. This filly was purchased during the Tattersalls Ireland Derby Sale, the world’s premier sale of National Hunt racehorses. Her sire, who’s stores have reached up to €325,000 was a French owned champion trained in France. In 2003 and 2004 Westerner won back-to-back Group 1’s Prix du Cadran and Prix Royal-Oak and was regarded as Europe’s top stayer during this period. In 2005 Westerner won the Ascot Gold Cup and went on to finish second in the 2005 Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe. We went to the sales with the intention of buying this horse and brought her straight into training.
