Hylo’s Journey

Realta Horse Racing Club spent two days at the 2016 Tattersalls Ireland Derby Sale searching for the right horse to put into training with Andrew McNamara. Andy had spent two days with us researching the pages of the stores and drew up a shortlist. The unnamed Getaway ex Jollie filly is from an excellent family and has a page full of blacktype which made our shortlist and was purchased outside of the ring.

The dam JOLLIE BOLLIE is a four-time winner and the family seem to produce a very high rate of NHF winners, exactly what Realta Horse Racing Club was looking for. Her sire GETAWAY (Monsun) is an own-brother to Italian Oaks-Gr.1 winner and Yorkshire Oaks-Gr.1 runner-up Guadalupe and is from the family of multiple Group 1 winners Alexander Goldrun and Goldikova. Getaway shares connections with leading sires Shirocco and Manduro, (both also by Monsun) and was rated 127 by Timeform in 2009, the equal of Champion Stakes winner Twice Over.

Nicknamed “Pippa” in the yard our Getaway will be the first horse trained for Realta by Andy McNamara at Charlestown Stud where the Gigginstown House operation do their pre-training. Our new addition is a correct, strong, athletic, well balanced and good moving racey individual that will be an excellent addition to Realta, and seems the ideal horse to run in a bumper, then go hurdling. The filly has a beautiful temperament and is a forward type.

In May 2017 Realta game the filly the racing name Hylo’s Journey, a name put forward by three shareowners and syndicate members as a tribute to a friend who passed away after a battle with an illness. Realta hope that Liam “Hylo” Hyland, a great horse racing fan, looks down on the horse and steers her to success throughout her career.
